Two Enjoyable Days

Today has been deliciously relaxing. No big agenda and filled with nice things.

Particularly remembering this day last year.

After a hard workout this morning (30 min upper-body/cardio, 30 min high impact cardio, 10 min abs), I headed to Fraiche Yogurt in Palo Alto for a little breakfast. I had an errand in PA so I decided to treat myself. I got to say hi to co-owner Jessica who was at the register. They are doing better than ever, I'm so glad to hear it!

The oatmeal-fresh yogurt combination was so delicious, but this time I added some olallieberry puree.

Delicious! And now I'm inspired to make a puree from all my frozen olallieberries!

After breakfast I headed for Stanford Shopping Center. It was an hour before opening, but I saw huge crowds waiting in long lines. I thought a celebrity must be visiting until I spoke to security- they are all waiting in line for the new iPhone 3G!

Line for iPhone 3G

I came to give my wedding rings an anniversary cleaning, but I needed to wait until 10AM. I strolled, taking some great pictures as I walked. Stanford has the most beautiful plants growing on the property. I know I take lots of plant pictures, but I do so love flowers. Can you see the dew on the flower in the foreground?

Flowers with dew

These orange flowers look like tissue paper, but they are real! I want to find out what these are, they'd look beautiful in the yard.

Messing around with the black and white setting on my Powershot; I did leave a little too much time and got a little bored.

B&W Rings

Finally, Tiffany's opened. I love that they will clean my rings for free for a lifetime, and they are always have such wonderful customer service. Plus, lots of lovely things to look at while I wait!

Back at home I assembled a gift I have for NH. We've been collecting all of our wine corks since we've been married, and their home has been a trifle bowl that was a wedding gift. I'm transferring them to this tall cylinder, and marking where this first year caps off. We will keep filling and marking it until it is full! Now we can actually make trifle if we want :-)

Anniversary Gift

I have one more gift for him but it's already wrapped: This single bottle wine chiller from Williams-Sonoma.

Wine Chiller

We can never remember to chill a bottle of white in advance, and he's been eyeing it for a while.

ONE YEAR AGO TODAY

The day before the wedding, I treated my bridesmaids to lunch and manicures at Santana Row. Keeping it all in the family, my party was three cousins and NH's sister. It was a grand time, we all live apart so this was the first time we got together before the big day.

After our outing, we went home to get ready for rehearsal. With so much family in town, Mom hosted a tea at the house for everyone to congregate. Those not in the wedding hung out all evening.

MIL and FIL were so kind to invite all aunts and uncles to the rehearsal dinner, so it was a large dinner held at the California Cafe in Los Gatos. Cocktail hour was long, noisy, and my MIL did such a wonderful job with every detail.

Pictures of us were displayed around the two rooms,

and she had such cute favors made! This one was saved for us, aren't they sweet?

It was the summer of weddings last year. Here I am with the partners of NH's best friends, two of which were also brides: L on far left, and V second from right.

I wish I could remember FIL's speech, but like so many excited moments it's lost. I do remember that it was heart-felt and genuine.

Father of the Groom Speech

NH and I presented our parents with a gift of two bottles of wine: a bottle of Syrah from Sarah's Vineyard in Gilroy, and a bottle of Chardonnay from Raymond Winery in Napa. Do you get it?? :-) I remember being uncomfortable speaking to such a large group of family and friends.

Tomorrow is a low-key day (although I think NH might be planning something, we'll see!), with dinner in the evening at 231 Ellsworth. We love this restaurant, but it's elegant tasting menu is saved for special occasions. Sunday we head to my parents' house to celebrate both our anniversary and my brother's 23rd birthday. I cannot wait for this joyful weekend!

Congrats on 1 year. My husband and I just celebrated our one year anniversary in May. Doesn't it fly by?

On a related note, Scott's aunt does marketing and sales for Raymond. We have been there many a time for the Raymond family picnics, etc. Such a great, family run winery. It's neat to see you point it out.

Have a super weekend.
