COPIA

*
I've been reading a few online articles regarding the demise of Copia, and it makes me so sad. It's such a shame to me that it has fallen and won't get back up.

Copia is a food and wine museum in downtown Napa, California, and I got to visit only once. Early in our relationship, NH and I took one of many trips to Napa Valley to taste wine. We stayed overnight and went to Julia's Kitchen at Copia for an early dinner. Named after the illustrious Julia Child, we enjoyed a fabulous meal and enjoyed the lovely grounds. A corporate party dominated most of the facility so we were unable to see much more. I'm sad that now I will never have the opportunity.

Chapter 11 bankruptsy was filed Monday after a surprise closing on November 21st.
How could it have gone so very wrong? Did they spend too much? Not make enough to be successful? Apparently Robert Mondavi put up almost half of the start-up capitol; I'm glad he's not around to see it go under.
